Welcome to The Pixel Nest Studio: How I Keep My Kids Busy and My Home Calm

Some days I feel pulled in five directions. I need to cook, my kids want a screen, the house is messy, and I just want ten quiet minutes.

I'm Neelam, and I started The Pixel Nest Studio for moms like me. I don't have a perfect system. I have a few small things that help, and I'm sharing them here.

 1. The Busy Box (my screen-free saver)

Every time I needed to cook or work, my kids asked for a tablet. Scolding didn't help. A Busy Box did.

It's just a small box. Here's what I put in mine:

• 30 pages of coloring, mazes, tracing, and   dot activities

• A pencil case with crayons and a few  pencils

• A sharpener and an eraser

I keep it on a shelf they can reach. When I need time, I say "Busy Box time?" and they pick a few pages. My kids stay busy for about 45 to 60 minutes. I swap out the pages every week so it never gets boring.

For younger kids (3 to 6), pick bigger pictures and simple shapes. For older kids, try mazes and dot-to-dots.

 2. Three simple sheets for the home

A calm home doesn't happen on its own, but it doesn't need much either. I use three sheets:

Grocery list:

sorted by vegetables, dairy, pantry, and household, so I stop forgetting things

Weekly meal planner:

I plan 7 dinners on Sunday, so I'm not asking "what's for dinner?" every evening

15-minute cleaning checklist:

small daily tasks instead of one big clean-up

 3. Ten minutes for me

After the kids sleep, I take ten minutes. Tea, a coloring page, sometimes a few lines in a journal. It's small, but it makes the next day easier.

Where to start

Don't try everything at once. Try these three:

• Tonight, give your child one coloring page instead of screen time

• Write tomorrow's grocery list on one sheet

• Take ten minutes for yourself after bedtime

What you'll find on this blog

I write about two things:

Screen-free kids activities and coloring printables

Simple home routines and organization

I also put together The Intentional Mom OS, an 80-page bundle of kids activities, home organization sheets, and a me-time journal. You can find it in my shop [Printables & coloring pages ]. The blog will always have free tips and free printables too.

Quick questions

Who is this blog for? Busy moms of young kids who want calmer days at home.

How do I keep my kids busy without screens? Start with a Busy Box: coloring pages, mazes, and puzzles. Even 45 to 60 minutes a day makes a difference.

Are the printables free? Some are free on the blog, and the full bundles are in the shop.

Thank you for being here.
